Things my mother taught me part III

Though was raised in an "old southern money family," after running away with my father to live without running water or heat in the wilds of Northern Minnesota, where he would sometimes disappear for months at a time, leaving. Here she raised nine children. There were times during our childhood that my father would disappear for months at a time leaving us all alone far in the woods without food, money, telephone or transportation to civilization. Yet she remained innocent. She was not a stupid woman quite the contrary she was brilliant and beautiful. Yet she had a way of making a game out of the hunt for roots and berries.
