I love thrillers, but the one thing I’m always missing is a story with a strong female in the lead role. And that’s exactly what this book has. Gwynn Reznick is a resourceful young woman, who knows her stuff when it comes to stealthy, undercover operations, and she uses all her skills and charms to get the job done. The one thing I really loved about this book is how the author managed to portray Gwynn as a skilled undercover operative, or PI, in a world of high stakes business without sacrificing her femininity, or having her do her job using seduction, etc. which seems to be the stereotypical role of women in thrillers.

Overall, the book is very well written and well paced. The author has a clear and concise writing style and I had no trouble picturing the scenes in the book as they unfolded. The twists and turns will keep you guessing right up to the end, and, believe me, you’ll be glued to the page for the duration. I know I was!

Highly recommended for all thriller fans!

A THRILL A MINUTE - ENGROSSING, AND BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN
Verified Purchase
I thought that The Cost of Crude was fabulous, but little did I know that Ms. Goss would take the Gwynn Resnick series five steps higher in Cisco Bandits. It was/is a book that is a thrill a minute, leaving you guessing from the beginning to the last page just who, what, and why so many people were dying (supposedly) by accident.
I adore the characters, each one is fully formed, and you feel as if you’d love to know some of them, and yes, work for Ruben, except of course that danger is usually best read about.
The twists and turns of the plot keep you reading far into the night. Why I even had to plug my kindle in to finish reading, as I couldn’t put it down and the book was way to engrossing to stop for the night.
Ms. Goss has a rare talent for pulling the reader into the story and making it so real you feel as if you are there.
I highly recommend this series, now on to Burning Water, as I must see what happens to Gwynn Resnick on her next assignment.

A Walk Through Nature, is a dynamic look at the natural world through the eyes of a poet. Marta Moran Bishop's, and Saket Suryesh, bring to the page brilliant and emotionally, charged verses in this expanded collection. This book would grace any table and is sure to become a valuable asset to any collection.

‘A Walk Though Nature’ is a coffee table poetry book by Marta Moran Bishop and Saket Suryesh. It has a collection of thirty poems, of which twenty six are by Marta and the rest four are by Saket.
The poetries by Marta are lucid and lyrical. She uses nature as her background to bring forward universal emotion like hope, grief, loneliness, love and growth. The poetries are so lyrical at times that it feels like a song, which is definitely a pleasure. The description of nature in all its colors is done very vividly; the reader can actually picture it. Some lines are just so beautiful that it stays with one. In the poem, ‘Finding the light’ she writes poignantly, “It is then we will meet again/When the time is ripe for us/ With luck lessons are learnt/And we meet again without hurt. In most of the poems she has very sharply used hope as her analogy, which definitely stays with the reader.

THE DEEP EMOTIONS, OBSERVATIONS, AND INSIGHTS COME STRAIGHT FROM HER HEART ONTO THE PAGE. "LIFE'S MIRACLES," ONE OF MY FAVORITES, TALKS ABOUT HOW BUSY SOCIETY IS, SO FOCUSED ON THE TELEVISION THAT WE FORGET TO FOCUS ON LIFE. THE POET'S STYLE IS SHORT AND SIMPLE BUT ABOUNDING IN TRUTH.

A Poet’s Journey: Emotions is Ms. Bishop’s first book of adult poetry. In its pages, you will find the good, bad, and beautiful of being human. It is divided into six categories, Love, Death, Betrayal, Nature, Villain or Hero, and Silly Me.

The verses include a glimpse into the heart and soul of one woman, who lived through a year, full of a roller-coaster of emotions, yet she retained her ability to see the silly side to things and beauty in the world around her.

If you like poetry, this is the book for you if you have grown up thinking poetry is difficult to understand, pick this book up for, within it, one can find something that will resonate with you.

This unique collection brings together works as diverse and influential as The Works of Edgar Allan Poe, the poems of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Maya Angelou, and Robert Frost. It is a must-have addition to any library.

It has in it's pages the good, bad, and beautiful of being human.

5.0 out of 5 stars Poetry that induces a rich and enlivening read...

The poems in EMOTIONS convey the author’s views about nature, love, relationships, life and death. My usual preference is to read novels and memoirs yet, after my read of the author’s real-life story, ‘Dinky: The Nurse Mare’s Foal,’ I found myself gravitating towards her poetry.

The poetry in EMOTIONS is poignant; the flow of words in each poem induced in me a rich and enlivening experience during my read. Although many of the poems are validations of Ms. Bishop’s personal emotional roller coaster ride due to her life’s experiences, it often felt as if the author was writing about my own. I resonated deeply with “Fire Within,” “Invisibility” and “Lessons of Life”– each triggered vivid memories and gave me pause to reflect on aspects of my own journey through life.

The poems in ‘Nature’ took me into a place of nostalgia, moments when I took more time to pause and listen to the world around me. The poetry in the category, ‘Silly Me,’ took me back into childhood; they are simply delightful.

“Death I Am Not Afraid” and “Life’s Miracles” are two that especially resonate with the person that I am today

SUNLIGHT AND SHADOWS IS A DEEP REFLECTION OF A VICTIM, SURVIVOR AND A BEAUTIFULLY EMPATHETIC HUMAN BEING THAT HAS RISEN ABOVE THE PERPETRATORS OF THE PAST AND FOUND BEAUTY IN PEOPLE, NATURE, AND ANIMALS.

Marta Moran Bishop continues her journey in Sunlight and Shadows. This book of poetry, unlike A Poet’s Journey: Emotions, is a more thought-provoking book. In its pages, she covers everything from God to life after death, war, and the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Still, she is able to bring to life the beauty and grandeur of her surroundings and make us laugh, cry, think, and feel.

Sunlight and Shadows will once again, take you on an emotional journey through life.

She believes it is how we deal with despair, tragedy, and joy that define us as human beings.

Powerful and rich...reminds me I am not alone.
It is rare for me to read a book of poetry – stories are my usual preference. After being captivated by the author’s stories, however, the reviews written for her poetry captured my interest.
In SUNLIGHT AND SHADOWS, some of the poems are powerfully raw: edgy, spunky, and intense – like ‘Shackled’ and ‘Innocence Lost.’ The author bares her soul and because she did, her poems gave me a strong sense of fearless courage in the face of daunting challenges. I did not need the details usually found in a story to understand.
In other poems, the tones are whimsical and daring, as in ‘The Dance;’ and, in a few, her expressions are poignantly thought-provoking relative to current issues, as in ‘You Should Have Known.’
A favorite life-theme of mine, transformation, is the thread that I found to be richly woven into the poetry of SUNLIGHT AND SHADOWS. Several of my favorites are: ‘I Wonder,’ ‘If You Believe,’ ‘Honor,’ and ‘Bright Spirit Show Us the Way.’

Enlightened by my read, the poetry written by Marta Moran Bishop sits next to my reading chair – for moments of reflection and to remind me that I am not alone on this journey through life.

"Wee Three" is a charming and delightful collection of poems for children. Marta Moran-Bishop truly captures the voice and curiosity of a little child.

THE COST OF CRUDE – A GWENN RESNICK MYSTERY – BOOK 1 BY INGE-LISE GOSS, did something most books don’t do, it kept me reading till my eyes could not keep open, till my mind begged for sleep, but oh how I wanted to read on.
Right from the first pages, you are caught! As I read on, I became more and more enthralled with the characters and story. Mind you, I am not usually interested in the Oil and Gas industry, but even the descriptions included of pipelines, etc., managed to hold my interest, as they were important in the discovery of who were the bad guys.
I fell completely in love with the beautifully written, and well-defined characters as they entered stage left or just fell into your lap as the saying goes.
It is no wonder that Ms. Goss has been on both the USA Today and Amazon bestselling author list, she deserves every award and accolade if all her books are as great.
I can hardly wait to open book 2, The Cisco Bandits.

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO BE A CARETAKER? PERHAPS YOU BELIEVE ONE DAY YOU MIGHT FACE IT? 'A WALK WITH VIRGINIA' A MEMOIR BY JILL ZAPATA IS A GREAT READ FOR EVERYONE.

To walk with another person can be as mundane as putting on one's socks and shoes, or it can be a twisting, turning, life-changing journey into unknown territory. It can also be everything in between. My walk with Virginia was life changing. It was unexpected. It was challenging. It was frustrating and confusing. We had highs, and we had lows. Thankfully, it was also awe-inspiring and extraordinary.

Have you ever been a caregiver for a family member or a friend? Is it, perhaps, on the horizon of your life? Or maybe you cannot yet see the horizon. Make no mistake, it is not a question of love, whether to provide much needed and potentially long-term care. It is a question of necessity. Love, and devotion born out of love, are the firmly rooted footings on which you stand when providing this necessary care. Humor is the grab bar you grip tightly when the ground below you begins to shake or shift. Patience is paramount. I survived it, and you can, too. I believe I am a better person having had the experience.

My story is a true account of my caregiving experience with my mother-in-law. It lasted only a few short years and, in that time, carved such deep and permanent remembrances too good not to share. Some would ask, "why share something so personal?", and my reply would be, "why not?". Life is so much sweeter when shared with others. I hope you find comfort, a little guidance perhaps, enjoy a few laughs, and chew on some 'food for thought' as you journey with Virginia and I through the blessings and blunders of Caregiving!

5.0 out of 5 stars A HEARTWARMING, COMPASIONATE LOOK AT LIFE AS A CARETAKER
Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2021
I just finished reading the most heartwarming, compassionate memoir by Jill Zapata ‘A Walk With Virginia.’ In it, Ms. Zapata recounts her time spent as a caretaker for her future mother-in-law Virginia.
Having spent time as a caretaker for my mother, I can attest that there are both the funny, as well as those that were heartbreaking, confusing, and yet as Ms. Zapata puts it a ‘fellow feeling’ happens that can only be, between those who you have spent the time as their caretaker.
For as they lose their mobility, ability to do things they once could, and sometimes even their ability to communicate, or hold onto a thought, or activity for long, they become not only your friend, but your child, and no relationship can you ever be quite as close to another, as you do when you become a caretaker.
Yes, it is at times challenging, emotional, frustrating, and difficult, but the joys, and laughter lives on in us so much longer than those harder memories.
I loved this book and shall be one I reread over the years.

FRANKI DEMERLE WRITES A MASTERFUL REINCARNATION NOVEL IN FIVE FLOWERS.

The story of five Tudor queens who find themselves drawn together again in Victorian London's Whitechapel district and the US in the 1960s. The challenges they face and deal with are love, betrayal, and finding their way to personal independence. What is the strange attraction they feel toward the sinister man around whom they orbit like satellites? Which of these women will break free and which will fall victim to him again and again?

Franki deMerle has rapidly become one of my favorite authors. I love her character portrayal and the depth she is able to pull out of each of them. It fascinates me to follow each character through lifetime after lifetime as their souls attempt to learn the lessons they failed at in the past.

This is one of my favorites for it takes one through some of the most fascinating and devilish periods of history.
In her book Five Flowers we follow six characters, five of them women from the court of Henry the VIII through encounters with Jack the Ripper and finally to a Charles Manson like scenario. It is a book I could not put down as it drew me deeper and deeper into the lives, hearts, minds, and souls of the story.

The writing is rich in detail, the characters deep, and the plot well research and brilliantly depicted

WHAT HAPPENED TO CRAZY ED THAT MADE HIM SIT IN THE DIRTY ALLEY STARING AT THE WALL DAY AFTER DAY? WHERE DID HE DISAPPEAR TO? THE OTHER SIDE A SHORT PARANORMAL LOVE STORY BY PATRICIA MORAN AND MARTA MORAN BISHOP

The people in the neighborhood called him Crazy Ed. He sat day after day on an ashcan in the alley staring at the dirty brick wall. Most didn’t know where he had come from or why he was there, but Ed was a quiet man with silver hair, and a sad expression on his face, so they left him alone. Few noticed him and most paid no attention what-so-ever to him.
Once in a while if a spare moment presented itself, they wondered who he was, until one day Ed disappeared.

“This isn’t my world Isle, even if I feel as if it’s my home.”
